About Bansko

Bansko is undoubtedly the fastest developing ski resort with the best snow cover and excellent ski slopes which make it a preferred winter destination. There are seventy kilometres of different marked runs – 30% of them are for beginners, 45% for the advanced and 25% - for the experienced. If skiing and snowboarding is not your thing, there is a plan B – an ice rink and the history of Bansko, which is more than thrilling. Bansko is unique for its authentic architecture from the Renaissance period, and its history dates back to ancient times – 15th and 16th century. Its historic and architectural heritage is rich with its Bansko Iconographical School, cultural monuments and house museums. This is the hometown of Neofit Rilski, Paisii Hilendarski and Nikola Vaptsarov. The city is colourful during the summer as well – it is a starting point for various tourist routes, mountain hiking, climbing, horse riding, swimming and cycling. Here the balance between ecology, flora, fauna and national colour has been preserved. In July there is a theatrical festival, and in August – a jazz festival. There are different sommelier and cookery courses, workshops for artists, wine tastings. Life is wild and young, even if there is no snow.
